For example, pointing to his bed means to go lie down on it, drawing that pointed hand to me means come here, and a loose left arm pointing down means lie down. But tipping my right palm down means lie down where you are. Confusing, lol?

And I'm trying out a new thing: averting my eyes when my pup disobeys, and resuming eye contact when he gets back into position - basically, during his happy lap out of the crate while I'm getting ready. The other day, DH asked me if I was training him to go to his bed when I looked at the wall. Lmao, he was being serious!

Oh. I understand now. That makes sense. I was like, man, am I messing up using either hand for signaling commands?

I use almost all hand signals now. I rarely use voice except when necessary. I use the same hand for anything from direction to downing ect. It could either be with the right or left hand. I just misunderstood what you were saying.

As far as consistancy. I'm horrible. But some od minw comes as a result of alot of work hours too.

Ours is 15 weeks and I can already tell he knows our commands differently. It's subtle but I think he gets it.

Yeah, I'm a real professional.
I'm famous for are you serious and you got to be kidding me, but they seem to understand my point. If I don't think about it I use down when it should be off, I always catch myself, but to late.

Ha! My BF laughed the first time I sent Titan to bed while I set the table. He went then tried creep out and I went, without looking, "um excuse me" amd bam right back to bed.. he got a kick out of it.

So true with commands. I looked up more commands in German the other day because we're reinventing his recall since come has been spoiled.. and I found one.. used it for a day and forgot... *sigh*

I know it's just second nature to use my left when my right is occupied, but I really need to *stop* and *pay attention* to what I'm doing. ARGH!!!
Yeah reminds me I have to talk to the better half.

When Rock and I are on a walk, I use an open palm at my side to signal him to stop, double insurance.

I was behind the wife and Rocky was behind her on leash,, she had her arms to her side and kinda making unconscious motions with her hand, I observed Rocky watching both her hands as they walked along, wondering what he was supposed to do! Opps!
