GSKnight Thanks for your comments...

I checked him again about 4 PM yesterday. His gums, eyes and behavior were completely normal. He eliminated another small piece of towel, but mostly normal. His evening meal/elimination cycle were normal. Also, his morning constitutional was also normal.

I think he is fine, but will be keeping a close eye on him just in case.

Thank you again for your concern.

Shaolin I'd rather be safe than sorry and just get a normal appointment. Finn chewed a stuffed toy and ate part of the outside. I thought he passed it as one huge chunk came out, but he ended up throwing up another piece three days later. If it were any bigger, it might have been worse. Since then, any chewed up toys that I can't find all the pieces to gets Finn a vet trip.

Lilie I have a friend who just lost their dog because it ate a sock.

pyratemom Did you look through the poop to see if there were pieces of the towel in there? I would take a stick and dig around in it to make sure the towel passed. How big was the piece that is missing? Is it big enough that you would see it in the poop? I would keep a close watch on the poop to make sure it has cleared. Raina once ate some filler from a stuffed toy and I didn't notice because my husband threw the toy away before I got home. The next day she had fuzzy white stuff in her poop and I was all worried until he told me "Oh yeah that must be from that toy she ripped up yesterday." I watched her for another 48 hours before I really relaxed. It did all work it's way through but it is always good to keep a close watch until you make sure it does. If there is any question in your mind - vet visit for sure.

my boy diesel vet definitely!
a dog of my brother in law died
by eating a towel
by the time they realized something was wrong
it was too late and much of his gut had died
too much to save him

Doc Just make sure it all has passed. He might of chewed it into pieces. If he continues to throw up I would visit the bet. Check his gums also, if they are pale in color, go to the vet.

gsdsar Inabity to keep food and water down, would mean a trip to the vet. I would just watch him for now. If he is acting normal, eating and drinking and keeping it down, you should be okay.

He Ate Part Of A Towel

So, I got up this morning and noticed Viktor ate part of a towel. I remember reading on here somewhere that towels are especially bad. He pooped normal and ate his breakfast like normal. I was worried about him, so I ran home at lunch to check on him. I was even more worried when I saw he threw-up his food. I palpated his abdomen, there was no pain reaction. He seemed normal, so I took him for a walk.

Well, I am pretty sure the issue has "passed", if ya know what I mean, so it looks like a trip to the Vet is not necessary. I will check on him again in a few hours. Hopefully everything is ok.

Please comment if you think there is anything else I need to look for, or behaviors I should notice with reference to a trip to ER.

Thanks.
