KorrasMom Thanks everybody for the advice. I think training my dad is definitely the way to go, but probably easier said than done. He's of the old world training, if they jump, smack them, if they tug on leash, tug the leash back harder. My dad walks my dog to pick up my daughter from school, so I'll try to work with both of them before he walks her next time. Ugh, wish me luck.

Baillif Yeah i was working on this same exact issue with my dog and gf last night. He walks great with me and as soon as she has the leash he blows her off and does his own thing. Dogs are kind of like horses. They know what you know and what you dont. A good leash handler with a prong can make a completely untrained dog look trained. Its a skills thing. Msmaria Your dad should train with her more. We went through the same thing when I did all the training. These dogs are so smart, they know who they have to listen to..lol. Have your dad train with her to let her know she has to obey him too.

middleofnowhere Walk your dog yourself. It works better that way.

LoveDogs Sounds to me you need to train your dad more since she knows what to do. She may not see him as an authority figure.

Heels fine with me, but nobody else

My GSD is almost 5 months and she walks fine with my daughters and me. But if anybody else (like my dad) takes her on a walk, she pulls. I haven't needed a prong collar or no-pull harness, but should I get one for when other people walk her? Do I need to train my dog more or my dad?
