Mishka&Milo My childhood dog had a very odd habit of only eating the red pieces of his food (sadly he was on purina... My parents did not know better at the time). I wondered why he developed the habit.... So I tried it. Surprisingly, that was the only color piece that had ANY slightly meaty flavor... The rest just tasted like cardboard. I've never been one to want to feed my pets something that I wouldn't eat. (I was never the popular child lol)

LoveDogs I was watching my niece as a teenager and she wanted to give my dog a treat. She said she wanted s treat too so they could eat them at the same time. I gave her a human cookie in one hand and a dog cookie in the other hand. She gave the human cookie to the dog and she ate the dog cookie. It must have been pretty decent because she asked for another.

I used to make dog treats for my dog and my husband walked in as I took a batch out of the oven. He took one, went on his way and I didn't say anything. A few minutes later he came back and told me to throw them away because they tasted like they were missing something. I told him they were dog treats. He looked at me like I had two heads.

Mister C very funny stories below...thanks for sharing. Here is mine.

When I was a teenager my mom used to keep cat food in a glass cookie jar that sat on the kitchen counter. One weekend my aunt and uncle were visiting. This aunt is a rather proper lady and generally thought of herself as distinguished.

Well, the aunt was apparently a bit peckish waiting for dinner to be served. She went straight to the glass cookie jar and starting eating the dry cat food. She had eaten several pieces before we noticed what she was doing. She was absolutely mortified.

When we asked what the cat food tasted like she dead panned her response "a bit dry". Everyone laughed like crazy.

AngelaA6 It wasn't much of an Oopsie that my husband tried one of Gunther's treats... They were blueberry and Pomegranate Nutro Ultra biscuits and he sniffed it and took a little nibble as I was starring at him in horror. His review was "eh, not that bad." o.O.... We switched to salmon strips haha no way in heck he was going to try those :P

mego I ate a few of these kibble pieces one time on this old food my mom used to feed her dog. I was 10 or something, and I lost truth or dare. It was pretty bad.

I bought Lara these beef jerky strips that are made of all meat and a few other things, they smelled SO GOOD I almost tried one, but I resisted :P

we buy mostly natural balance LIT cookies for random bedtime treats. They all have a really strong odor so I have never even been tempted to try those.

Shade We grew up with a lab that was freefed. My mom started babysitting for this couple and my mom noticed one day that the younger son (around 1.5 years old at the time) was missing so she looked around the corner and he was sitting at the dog bowl eating the kibble happily and "sharing" with the dog that had a WTH look.

He kept trying to get back to eat more and she had to end up moving the food completely so it wasn't accessible anymore.

Lilie When my daughter was a toddler, I made a birthday cake for her. My family was coming over to help celebrate her birthday.

She proudly stuck dog bisquit treats into her cake. I didn't notice until my family was at the house. They thought I seriously stuck the dog treats into the cake. We were all laughing and my daughter reached over, grabbed one off the cake and ate it. I thought it was funny, my mother was horrified.

I've seen similar jokes to this one before (using dog food, and saying the husband was killed chasing a car)... and for some reason I canNOT stop cackling at this like an idiot today.

As a youngster, apparently one day my parents found me sitting in the kitchen with the cats, sharing their kibble... one for me, one for kitty, one for me, one for kitty. I think they put the food up after that.

As a teen, my friends and I tried out some of the dog biscuits, and a few of them weren't terrible. I can't remember which ones were any good, but I can say for sure that Liv-O-Snaps were pretty awful, those I do remember.

When I worked at various pet stores, I've tested out a biscuit here and there just for kicks, but never found any that tasted worth a darn. I guess I just don't like the same things the dogs do?

In the last training class I was in, I had found that the current dog's FAVORITE treats EVER were turkey sausage bites (human ones), so I grabbed a couple bags of them, and had put them into my little treat training bags to carry them in. Without even thinking about it at one point, I snuck a couple into my mouth, and noticed that I was suddenly getting REALLY GOOOD focus from my dog, so I randomly spat a little piece of one at her while she was just sitting there looking at me. The looks I got that night were priceless, and we all had a good laugh when I explained just what treats I was using that night. I've turned myself into a human pez dispenser more than once since then.
