I thought you might be interested in the below if you want your kibble's protein to come from more meat instead of plants.
This is true with any 'Meat' or 'Meal', just used chicken as an example.
Chicken (Meat) contains 70% water and 15% protein BEFORE processing and loses over half of its weight during the processing.
Chicken “Meal” has had the water and fat removed and it doesn’t change weight during processing, making it 10% water and over 50% protein. The Chicken "Meal" actually provides more protein nutrition by weight.
Acana, manufactured in Canada, has a limited ingredient line: Duck & Bartlett Pear | ACANA Pet Foods

duck liver, kelp, chicory root, ginger root, peppermint leaf, lemon balm, mixed tocopherols (preservative), dried Enterococcus faecium fermentation product.
Acana's sister company, Orijen, has a product called "Six Fish" that only contains fish: Six Fish Dog | Orijen
Whole salmon*, whole herring*, salmon meal, herring meal, Pollock meal, whole flounder*, boneless walleye*, boneless northern pike*, boneless lake whitefish*, salmon oil, herring oil, chickpeas, red lentils, green lentils, green peas, pea fiber, canola oil, sun-cured alfalfa, yams*, pumpkin*, butternut squash*, spinach greens*, carrots*, Red Delicious apples*, Bartlett pears*, cranberries*, blueberries*, kelp*, licorice root, angelica root, fenugreek, marigold flowers, sweet fennel, peppermint leaf, chamomile, dandelion, summer savory, rosemary, Enterococcus faecium. Take note that Orijen gives some dogs loose stool, others thrive on it!
Make sure that whatever kibble you choose, to do a very slow transition on to the new food.

|Kerrycanton||I've had Allie on Now grain free for the past 4 years. Stopped the itching, and her coat is just beautiful. It works for her and she will be 9 years old in April.|

|Harry and Lola||I would go with the large breed adult has it has slightly less protein & fat and the added benefits of Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulphate - essential for joint and cartilage repair. There is evidence that diets very high in protein can contribute to hyperactivity. As we all know the first few ingredients make up the bulk of the product, I'm not entirely sure but I would think whole dried egg would be more nutritious than potato flour?|

Now Fresh Adult Food vs. Now Fresh Large Breed Food?
I am switching my GSD to Now Fresh dog food. She has some food sensitivities and this was the best food I could find for it that is readily available. I'm unsure if there is really any added benefit to putting her on the large breed formula though. I am alright with reading the ingredients but the whole guaranteed analysis and percentage thing stumps me. I'm wondering if someone could take a look at the ingredients and analysis thing and tell me if there is any benefit to the large breed formula or if I should just stick with the regular adult formula. Thanks!
