Mocha First piece of advice, wait two more weeks to pick em up.

Second, find a new breeder for any future puppies. No good breeder gives puppies away at six weeks old.

Taking a puppy at six weeks old can have long term negative effects on temperament and development for the puppy. Could cause aggression, anxiety, etc. The puppies learn A LOT in those two CRUCIAL weeks.

kburrow11 Thank you for all the advice! I'm also hoping to feed her a raw diet, anyone have good tips/recipes for that?

wyoung2153 You would be surprised the difference in a dog's personality in those 2 weeks..

erfunhouse They are weaned at that time, however, mom and litter mates teach each other A LOT regarding proper dog-behavior (it's RUDE to run up to another dogs face and bite their nose puppy! Don't do it) and dog manners.

kburrow11 Thanks! It was my understanding that 6-8 weeks was the proper time to get a puppy.

erfunhouse What wyoung2153 said.

However, if there is no helping getting such a young pup...tips:

Crate train
Buy plenty of chew toys
Get and read training books prior to her arrival
Establish a vet that you will be seeing
Bleach your back and front yard now before she gets there
Read the forum regarding puppies

Getting a Puppy Soon

In April I will be getting a 6-week old female GSD puppy. What are some tips and tricks for training and feeding this puppy? She will be used as an ESSA for me.
