angierose How long has he been with you? My boy I got from the humane society used to clack almost constantly. It went on for a few months but then went away. It seemed in his case to be kind of a nervous habit, like he was excited but didn't know how to deal with it. Once he learned to settle in the house and all our routines and everything, he pretty much stopped.

hunterisgreat My female does it when excited. In aggression, when we are feeding, if I dangle a toy, etc.

Teeth clacking?

Does anyone know why dogs do this? I have a 6y/o male rescue GSD and when we got home today(after being let our of the kennel and pottied) he began walking around my husband and I and clacking his teeth together. It was about 20 seconds and about a dozen clacks. Much like when a black bear will huff at people but with his teeth. There was no aggression and I am baffled as I have never seen or heard of this behavior before.

Thanks,

Amy
