The landing is open, you can see the humidifier and the moisture has a clear path down. .. Does it need to be downstairs?

It could take a day or more to raise the humidity level in your house. How many square ft does the humidifier cover? Is it a console type or a portable type?
I have an Air-O-Swiss that covers 650 sq ft.(my house is only 1100 sq. ft.) I started it this past Saturday. I have filled it four times already( I think it hold a gallon and a half of water). I have been moving it from the bedroom to living room and back. It is finally cycling off with the humidity level in the house around 45%.
The static zaps have stopped. YAY!

Give it some time.

trcy It's just to dry in this area right now. There is static on everything. Even the dog beds. I use the static sheets in the dryer and the clothes are still coming out with static. We need some moisture in the air.

I think a small humidifier would only work in a smallish bedroom. I don't think it can humidify an entire house. I could be wrong though. We only used one once and it just made the house colder. I guess we needed one with a heater in it.

JackandMattie If you can't afford to boil water, open the windows for couple hours after it rains or snows. Just get some moisture inside.

JackandMattie Humidifier. Or boil a few pots of water on the stove. Moisture in the air will completely dampen the static electricity.
