If I recall correctly we were nearing the physical limit of powder in the shells, though that may have been the .44 Mag rounds. It's been awhile.

Not sure the pressures we were loading too, enough to cycle the pistol, which is a tight clearance(d) Gold Cup, factory ammo would on occasion stove-pipe a round. Newer factory HD rounds seem to run dandy in it, I particularly like the PDX1(Winchester) stuff. I fairly recently did some feed ramp work and the Colt will now accept HP rounds as long as they are bonded ammo, anything soft nosed will still hang.

GSDhistorian German shepherds and firearms make for a very safe home!

Squeetie DH reloads for us and we both love it (he loves the science behind it, I love the accuracy, and we both love the savings!). I'm super excited to start hand loading for my new .308 bolt rifle! Hand weighing every piece of brass and every powder charge will give just the kind of accuracy I'm looking for! We just need to shoot enough factory stuff to (a) break in the barrel, which doesn't seem to be having any issue, and (b) get enough brass! Fun, fun, fun!!!

brembo I used to reload. I liked it fine, very calming and saved oodles of cash. We'd load up some rounds, step out of the workshop and chrono the loads and check the groups, head back in to tweak the rounds a bit more. Did this with .44 mag, .270 and 30.06 mainly. Made some hot loads for .45, home defense HP stuff. Shotgun loads were the real grinder, so many steps and the equipment was hideously expensive, took many thousands of rounds to offset the costs. My reloading bud bought out the equipment and I exited the game in the early 90s.

Would love to get back into rifle reloading, primarily to get the costs down on my bench-queen rigs. Match grade ammo is not cheap and I suspect my quality control would be tighter.

Thewretched My father in law is recently retired and he reloads .40s. I'm in the same boat as you always thinking that id never want to sit there and do that for hours on end, but he seems to love it. He offered to start reloading for me but I'll leave my bullet making to Speer.

MichaelE Never thought I would have the patients to sit at a reloading bench and do that for hours on end.

I'd just as soon pay for factory loads.

I hear pistol primers are hard to come by these days.

I have a new tan Galco Combat Master on the way for my SIG-Sauer P220.
