I figure this is a good thread to share this on. One of my USMC Recon brothers started a company called Covert Furnishings. They make things such as picture frames that conceal a firearm, coffee tables book cases, night stands. Basically any piece of furniture in your house they make. Not only are they nice designs they are practical too. So please check them out.

|lhczth||Discussing the reasons why the .45 was recommended would be a bit gory for this board. Let's just say they do more damage and that is very important in many defensive situations.|

The velocity of the .45ACP is considerably slower than that of a 9mm cartridge. It will do more damage for a given target, and has more energy, but it is not prone to overpenetration.
Use a quality defense ammunition of either caliber such as Remington Golden Sabre, Hornady Critical Defense, Winchester PDX1, or Cor-Bon.
You may have overpentration problems from a FMJ 9mm because of the velocity these travel.

Wow!!! Thanks for all the advice. I guess it is a bit like dogs. Get out and try and see and test and figure out what I like before buying one!!!! Gonna start looking for some classes or firing ranges in my area.

Usually don't jump in ... but the stopping power is where you hit the target and not always caliber so a 9mm is quite sufficient for home defense. 45 will keep going and you don't always know where it will end
