I know my dog has got a lot of the basic instincts to do this type of activity, it's just a matter of harnessing it in a way that works to my advantage while out on hunts.
Anyways, it's interesting that you brought this topic up as I find myself going down that same path. I'm always looking for suggestions and feedback too.

|astrovan2487||I've taken my GSD hunting with me a few times, once bow hunting in a blind, did not work out very well… She's a very nervous dog and just kept whining at looking at me. Needless to say we did not see a deer. She's also squirrel hunted a few times and she was pretty good. She's been with me on a bird hunt too (my husband has a bird dog that was doing the flushing/pointing) she was very good on the bird hunt and just stuck by my side the whole time. I'd love to have her hunt with me more often but she's just too nervous/fidgety and I mostly just bow hunt so there's no way to have a 70+lb dog in a tree stand with me.|

Idk if there's a thread on this if there nis please let me know. But was wondering if anyone else who hunts takes there gsd with them? How well they do? Halos been in scent trail training with me all summer and most of this winter. Next year will be her first year out with me. Was curious if anyone else had any experiences they wanted to share??
