|llombardo||I find that older dogs(especially girls) are not that tolerant of jumpy dogs. They are more likely to correct them or put them in their place. My oldest female(non GSD)has done so with all dogs in my house(I have 5 dogs of my own and 1 foster). They all respect her and back off. If two of the dogs are getting to rough, she steps in before it gets out of hand. It's pretty amazing to watch. I got my female GSD(now two) when my female was 7 and the age difference has helped. Every now and then the GSD will attempt to challenge the older one and I do step in, the older one has earned her respect over the yrs. the female GSD will eventually be in that role and I probably won't get another female for a long time, if ever. The female GSD doesn't put up with bouncing around or no manners. She is falling into that role as the "leader" . The boys don't care, but sometimes I think they annoy the girls on purpose. The girls sit back and watch while the boys goof around. All in all they all get along well and even with changes in temperaments as they get older that isn't changing. The two youngest are boys and both have wonderful temperaments that I foresee staying the same.|

|llombardo||How old is your friends dog? Male or female? How old is the yorkie mix?|

|Katerlena||I agree with Diane. Years ago we had 2 female GSDs introduced a male puppy GSD and a year or so later the middle female starting antagonizing the older female. I guess it was a change in the pack dynamics. It was nothing serious but the behavior never surfaced until the third dog was introduced. Of course I know people that have 5 or 6 dogs that all get along fabulously. I think pack leadership and training is key.|

I don't think anyone can predict the future.
Is your yorkie a girl or a boy?
Sometimes 3 can be a crowd

Will my dogs always get along?
I'm new to the forums and GSD's in general and I was hoping some of you could give me some advice regarding my 6.5 year old female and now 11 week old female GSD (we also have a 10lb. Yorkie mix). First off I will offer up some information on them so you can better understand my question. I recently purchased a 6.5 year old female from a very reputable breeder. She was a breeding female and has some schutzhund/bite work training. She is a very loving dog and does not seem to be aggressive in any way. The breeders/trainers said she is not dog aggressive and would be fine with other dogs. The 6.5 year old gets along with my Yorkie just fine and I'm hoping I will have the same result with my puppy as she becomes an adult. I have noticed that my older dog is fine with the puppy unless she tries to take her toy or bites her face too hard, then the older dog will show her teeth and even give the pup a warning bite (not hard enough to break skin). Will this be a problem when they get older? Also, I recently had a friends dog around the older dog and my dog pinned her down and nipped at her face. Again, my question is will my older dog and pup always get along or will I have issues? The last thing I would want would be to have to separate them as adults. I will also say that the pup mimics the older dog in all that she does.... They even poop together...lol
Thanks in advance.
