My family is all from Michigan, and I spent a lot of my childhood there. I remember having quite a time finding any stores or restaurants that would let us bring in our dog when we were there or en route there.

We are lucky in the dog-friendliness options, but a little iffy in the dog trainer department here. Luckily, there are two wonderful trainers that we know personally who have more grassroots operations that would be hard to find out about if you weren't looking for them specifically. So fortunately for our little miss, we have good access to trainers, but I'd hate to be someone without any dog-world connections here looking for a trainer!

There are a lot of others that aren't even on that list, I know that McAllister's in Greenwood never minds if we bring a dog to the outdoor seating, and Hooters is quite dog-friendly. We had a dog with us once when we took the car to a mechanic for what was supposed to be a very fast repair and it took longer than expected, so we ran across the street to the only restaurant around, Hooters, and they bent over backwards to make our dog welcome, even bringing out a bowl of water and half the servers to socialize!

I've found that even aside from the quite long list of confirmed dog-friendly places, the whole city is pretty good about it in general.

And, of course, training classes lined up pretty much through her first year - we'll see where we're going to go from there after that.

Very glad you already have classes and socialization lined up. As a trainer, it really makes me happy. XD

Hope you remembered to make a spot next to your bed in the bedroom for the crate!

Ha, it's funny you should say that, because that is exactly where I'm going to set it up this afternoon. We have a rough collie and a shetland sheepdog, and both are trustworthy enough to never need to be crated, so I'll be getting the crate from the old puppy days out of the garage today.
