If you are drinking well water and are not sick, it's probably the food. If food isn't reported bad, there can be numerous bags out there that are bad, just nobody has reported or put two and two together.
As to water, we test our well bi-weekly, it's free through the municipality - now we have a finicky well, across the street at the community center they have a commercial kitchen and only require monthly testing - overkill on our part, but directly North of us is a series of inland lakes and the Trent-Severn water system, where it's man-made control of the canals, I read the regional website daily, so know when a boil advisory is in place - but so many people do not. Plus, how many are sick before they advise LOL.

selzer My guess is it is the food. I use well water, and so far no problems in ten/eleven years with the well. I have treated it with bleach at least once. But, personally, I think you will get as many bacteria and problems with bottled water/spring water as you will with well water. In ten/eleven years I spent $400 on my well to replace the pump. I would spend more than 40$/week if I started feeding my dogs spring water.

I have had some problems with food, and switching the food has cleared them up.

Wells are filtered by the water going into the ground and then seeping into your well. Unless you have a ton of cattle or something polluting your well water, I think it is every bit as safe as anything you can buy at the store.

I took back all the food, because my gut says that is what's the problem. I went with a food called Infinia. It has pretty good reviews. A few hours after their first feeding, the golden that was sick finally had a nice firm poop. They didn't shy away from it either. So we will see...

Culligan worked for us. Not cheap, but very good. (sorry for the thread HJ)

If you read through the comments, the OP, comments again saying they also fed "Evangers" (not tested) and that the Froms test results showed no bacteria/contaminates. I like Sunflowers advice, undo the last thing you did.

We have negative fecals all around
