Galathiel You have to go by the individual dog and his body condition. There is no set formula. As long as your dog is lean, ribs can be easily felt, with a waist (not all dogs have a tuck..mine has more now, but had hardly any when younger). My pup right now (8 months old) eats 6-7 cups a day. He's nice and lean. Another dog might be hugely overweight on the same feeding regimen. Varik would be emaciated on 3 cups a day (which I've seen many people feed).

trcy My 6 month old gets 2 1/2 cups twice a day. Going by the bag feeding requirements.

He doesn't appear to be overweight. I was just wondering because I see other posts where people list how much they're feeding their pup and people are telling them that the puppy doesn't need that much. I don't know.

My5dogs Loose stool as well will indicate over feeding. I feed 1 cup 3 times day to my 11 week old I am increasing today though.

How to know?

I feel like my puppy eats and is still hungry a lot. He's 15 weeks. I was feeding him 1 cup three times a day but now I do that four times per day and he seems more satisfied. The thing is though is he's still pooping the same amount (2x per day). How do I know if I'm overfeeding him? He's grown a lot taller and bulked up some in the shoulders but still is very lean in the middle. Is four cups too much?
This is what he's eating: Attachment 152426
