Sansa's Mom It's never a good idea to greet a puppy super enthusiastically anyway, it encourages them to jump, pee and so forth. Just have your wife be mellow and kind of ignore the puppy when she gets home, until the puppy settles down enough to "sit" on command and earn a greeting.

MaggieRoseLee Harry and Lola is right about how your wife just needs to calm down when she gets home. This sounds like excitement urination to me and GENERALLY, if your wife calms and waits to greet the pup plus as the pup ages... this will go away.

Good luck!

Harry and Lola Ive only seen this with puppies who were really excited or really scared.

Your wife should walk inside in a calm manner, ignore the puppy, she should do what you do and only give attention when puppy is calm and behaving. Otherwise imagine having a fully grown dog running up to you as soon as you enter the house, peeing everywhere from excitement, running all over the house and then jumping up on you - ouch!

Submissive peeing?

Hello everyone, Hope all is well.
Our max is 16 weeks now, and has started doing something strange to me. For some reason when ever my wife comes home and he runs to greet her he begins to squirt when she pets him. He has never done this before and still doesn't do it with me.

When I get home I usually take time to get everything in order i.e.... take off my coat and such before I greet him. I normally tell him "easy" to stop him from getting to out of control when I first come home.

My wife will just usually just call his name in an excited pitched voice and he'll charge strait up to her and then the squirting will start. He didn't do it when he was younger just recently started.

How can we stop this habit.. Also why would it have started? I don't scold him when he does it out of fear he won't understand and my make matters worse.

Thanks
Ted
