Wild Wolf Their purpose is to tie the dog to a female during breeding to increase chances of a successful mating and prevent males from coming in and mating immediately after a different male (and thus creating competition) - its job is to swell whenever the animal is in a state of arousal (excitement in general to any stimuli) and is quite common... comes and goes, nothing to worry about.

gsdsar They enlarge when the dog is excited. It is normal for them to come and go.

This is an embarrassing question but... (bulbourethral gland?)

I have always noticed Navarro has a big glands on either side of his penis. In fact when I first got him as a pup I thought those were his testicles before the vet informed me they were glands (I have never had a male dog before). They seem to always be there. Well tonight they're not there! I always do a full body check once a day and tonight they've gone missing. Is that normal? Where did they go? Sorry if this is a dumb question...
