TaraM1285 Margaret Simek is in the Chicago area, but I'm not familiar enough to know where in relation to you, but if it's reasonable, check her out. I've taken one of her online Nose Work classes through the Fenzi academy and really enjoyed it. I believe she teaches in person classes too.

I have gone there and to For Your K9. I think For Your K9 offers more, but Westmont is closer.
Ahhh! I saw this place online, but I wasn't sure if they were still there or not - that strip mall looks dead every time I drive past it. I think for the convenience factor/close location I'll check this place first.

Anyone have any interaction with a Barb Ruehl? She does classes at Doggie Depot in Downers Grove (another one super close to me)... Just curious and thanks!

Can the lovely forum recommend any place in the western Chicago suburbs?

If you look under MI you will see Carolyn at the top. She is my instructor but she's actually from Chicago and is always driving back there for seminars, training, and trials. If you email her I'm sure she could tell you of clubs/trainers near Chicago.

lhczth I have a friend in Chicago. I know she is training in scent work (not sure if they do nose work). I just emailed her to find out the name of the place.

Yeah kind of. Scent recognition is the first step... One of the class descriptions I read indicated you could use the training to have your dog find things you've lost in your house like keys or cell phones, so a lightbulb instantly went off in my head! Plus, when Ralphie is not being made to heel on walks, he will sniff out and follow scents for blocks.
