MichaelE If the puppy still has all of his baby teeth he's probably not any older than 18 weeks now. He looks to be 9-10 weeks to me.

selzer Ok.

So the question could be stated, we were told the puppies were 5 weeks old in the beginning of November, but we aren't so sure they had the dates right. By how the puppy looks now, can anyone give a better approximation of the age?

Is that the situation?

There can be very little difference in how a puppy looks from eight weeks ot nine weeks or nine weeks to ten weeks, or their can be a whole lot of difference. And all of that is totally out of the window if the puppy has suffered from malnutrition or if the puppy is s mixture.

Castlemaid A dog ages relative to the calendar - not according to his weight. The charts are averages, pups may weigh more or less, and still be normal. A pup weighing less than what the chart says it should does not make it younger than what the calender says he is.

selzer So you are an animal control officer?

It's the beginning of December, roughly four weeks after the beginning of November. 5 weeks + 4 weeks = 9 weeks.

The dog does not look full GSD. But I could be wrong. Do you have pictures of the sire and dam? If they were chained, is there a possibility of more than one suiter?

What depends on weight and size?

If you knew that he was 5 weeks in the beginning of November simply add the number of weeks that have passed. Am I missing something?
