Then and now...
Here she is at 17 weeks and 38lbs, a little more than 3x her size just 9 weeks ago. Seems like she is noticeably larger after every nap these days.
Also teething like crazy and mouthy, but getting better about using her new choppers gently. Slowly though, but it's progress so I'll take it. All but her adult canines are through the gums or about to break through and it seems like her front milk teeth started dropping out all at once, in the span of just a few days. I'll definitely be happier and our hands and feet less scarred when she is through this.
It's great to see her confidence growing and manners improving, but she is still extra cautious around other dogs. I'm OK with that, though. I physically block a lot of big, rude off-leash "oh-don't-worry-(s)he-is-nice" dogs that run up with barks flying and hackles up to greet her. But she shakes it off instantly now. Around people she is outgoing to a fault, no matter the shape, color, size or dress. She even tried to make friends with the Halloween robot skeleton greeter at Home Depot! That is awesome, but we're starting to work on curbing her enthusiasm just a little with strangers in the name of future good manners.
She has an keen passion for also walking downed trees on hikes, balance beam style (something I taught her, she now offers it without command), and also jumping up on stumps and benches, going under logs, etc. Agility may end up being her thing, we'll see.
Anyway, here she is...

|Galathiel||I was talking the movie .. but actually all the places I've seen it quoted it attributes it to Austin Powers. *shrug* who knows...personally I can't watch the movies .. not my cuppa tea..I do enjoy some of the quotes.|

|schnellmann||Well, the line is from Dr. Evil technically. But from the movie I meant, LOL.|

Please allow myself to introduce.... myself.
... and our now 11.5wk white GSD. Her name is Luna, and she is our first GSD though not our first dog.
We got her from the breeder at 8wks. It's been an amazing, sometimes trying, slightly scarring and bloody but deliriously joyful experience so far getting her acclimatized to our place, our lives and this mortal coil in the general sense.
I've been lurking the last few weeks and learned a TON. Mostly what I have taken away is that the most critical part of raising a GSD is knowing when to listen to the dog, and really trying to understand her. Developing real 2-way communication improves the experience for both of us to be sure and radically improves the training process.
Anyway, thanks to everyone and I will certainly contribute whenever possible...
Here's our little white whackjob at about 9 weeks.
P.S. The post title is an Austin Powers quote.
