|angelas||Is it possible that the smell of the gas itself is what is upsetting him?|

not the same either, but I had a male, who was bombproof,,the only thing that he was afraid of, was when I got a new stove, used the oven, and it would "click" occasionally , i guess the heat regulating.
My husband said the dog was afraid of my cooking...

|Midnight12||Not the same but my last gsd would bark at her reflection in the oven door and I would hang a towel there so she would stop. If your dog is not scared of other things. I would not worry about it too much. The treat is good idea but you may be treating the dog when ever you cook for a long time lol|

Dog afraid of new stove
We are in the process of a kitchen renovation and installed our new gas range a couple of days ago. Our old range was electric. Whenever I start one of the burners, Uther gets really crazy. He jumps up on me as if seeking comfort and puts his tail between his legs. I have a feeling it has to do with the clicking sound that a gas burner makes when it starts because running the oven doesn't bother him at all.
He does not have a history of being afraid of anything. He's fine with thunder, fireworks, etc. The only other time he seemed scared of anything was when my husband was using a nail gun to install some trim. Perhaps the nail gun and the gas range both emit a sound that only he is hearing.
I've started to give him a treat whenever I start the stove, so hopefully he will associate the sound with something good and not scary.
Anyone else experience this?
