|Nigel||That is sad news, sorry he took a turn for the worse. Not sure there's much any of us can do under these circumstances, you tried doing something nice and I'm sure the family will take comfort in knowing how much he means to his friends and coworkers.|

Maybe you can still deliver the basket to his home or have it sent. Enclose another card for the family. Express to them that you know how he enjoyed the movies. Just maybe he will be able to enjoy one last flick with his family by his bedside. If not, then maybe his family will find time after his passing to sit with those very movies and snacks and reminisce about the good times they had enjoying previous movies with their loved one. It may not be to late to express a wish to bring a bit of joy to him and his family during this very difficult time. It's never to late to let the whole family know you care.
It's a hard time for sure. Blessings and hugs to you.

having a hard day.....
It’s a hard day today. Got some extremely good news followed by some extremely bad news. Today I got a promotion that I have been working very hard towards, and it is finally nice to see my hard work and dedication pay off. It was a short lived high though; a very close friend of the family and coworker was diagnosed with cancer about 6 or 7 months ago. It was a heavy hit for him and his family but his spirit was high. Shortly after starting chemotherapy he learned that the cancer had spread to his liver, he didn’t take the news very well. I mean, who would? Again his spirit bounced back and he had high hopes for his chemo.
After hearing this I decided I was going to put together a “movie at home” basket for him and his family. PS, they love movies, and with his chemo, going out to the movies wasn’t really an option. Anyways, I went to the store and bought; Tommy Boy, Happy Gilmore/Billy Madison combo, and Vacation/ Vegas Vacation/ Euro Vacation combo, along with movie candy and popcorn. I knew he wouldn’t be able to eat a lot of it but that part was for his family, the movies are for him. I also got a card for everyone at work to sign.
Well our contract manager took the basket and was going to give it to him the next time he saw him. Well today I found out that my basket never made it to him, when my manager went to the hospital to deliver it the hospital staff said family only. He took a dramatic turn for the worse. The fights over….. The last days will be spent hopefully at home with his family. It’s crazy, just like that, I’m never going to see him again…..
It devastated me in more than one way. One, we are losing a dear friend and coworker that always put his work before himself, and two, I feel that if I would have only finished that basket a week earlier, that maybe he could have had one last family movie night….. That just made me think how fast things can happen and pass you by. That if you wait a second too long it could be gone forever. For me this has shown me to spend a little extra time with the ones you love, take the extra time and effort to make the small things count in life. I am extremely grateful to have the privilege to have worked and personally known him and pray that his family knows how much he means to everyone he has touched.
