What's IN the pills is nothing new, but the DELIVERY
method is new, and apparently works better than an
enema or NG tube delivery, because pills travel
farther along in your gut.

but this "pills" then is nothing new !!
Human strains are derived from As “human strains” tend to come from the human faeces, this fact in itself acts as evidence of their capability to survive intestinal transit; a key factor when considering a good probiotic. It does not, however, provide evidence that they can adhere to or colonize the human gut more effectively than a strain which is not considered to be of human origin.
At OptiBac we do not therefore consider the the question of “human strain” to be a relevant criterion for selecting an effective probiotic.
However, for those of you who are still curious, here is a list of our probiotic strains and their specific origins:

I almost had to be the donor in a fecal transplant situation. My husband had c-diff for months and the transplant was the next step, but the last round of drugs proved effective.
I was seriously bothered by the idea of this but I would have done it. And I knew that it was just the idea--it's not like a kidney transplant. I would have just pooped in a jar but still...
Poop pills would be awesome!

|stolibaby||I'm. Nurse on a GI surgical floor so we see tons of C-diff and I can tell you that the pills are a much nicer way than having a NG tube inserted and then asking a roommate/spouse to provide a stool sample and have it inserted into your stomach that way. And yes that is a true method I have seen/done (isn't my job glamorous lol) if these pills work and reduce C Diff which can be fatal and is an incredibly long recovery for some people I would say suck it up and swallow it down!!!|

I contracted c-diff after a bowel resection surgery - the illness was very dangerous to me during my recovery and I was hospitalized for treatment. It took months for me to feel even halfway normal again, not to mention to eat a meal without the constant fear of it all coming right back out. I lost over 25 lbs. The oral vancomycin (sp) they treated me with had to be the nastiest tasting drug EVER, it tasted like I was drinking turpentine. Still makes me gag, yuck.
So, I would willingly take the poop pills in a heartbeat to help me through c-diff- anything that would help, I'd try! C-diff is a serious illness that I never want to experience again.

|arycrest||I don't know, I think I'd bypass pills or capsules in favor of the procedure shown in the YouTube video Carmen posted in this thread ... I'd much rather have the fecal matter infused up my butt than take God only knows how many poop pills.|

|ShenzisMom||I have h pylori. After a round of the most insane antibiotics (It felt like a train hit me every time I took them) that didn't work I gave up trying to get rid of it. I would try the poo pills.|

These are capsules that you swallow. Cleaned up
of course, so really I think it's just the ick factor that
would get people.

the bacterial fecal swop is introduced into your colon , not your mouth !!!! Poop: the cure of the future?
I had mentioned this before - Dr Borody who was involved in the team that found h pylori to be a cause of stomach ulcers. I saw him featured on a science program "Catalyst" with this new treatment of introducing fecal matter from another , vetted , person - see the program here

|Liesje||Normally I'd gag, but c-diff is a nasty, nasty illness. If it works, it works!|
