|mspiker03||German Shepherds also play loud and rough. My older female makes all sorts of loud growling type sounds, but is just playing. When Levi (her littermate) was alive, I remember getting some weird looks because it looked like a major dog fight, but they were just playing (and it was Leyna who made the most racket). So, without seeing it, I think it would be hard to tell if it was just in play or something more.|

My puppy started with the aggressiveness at around 4 months. Since I have 2 small ( around 9 lb dogs) I had to get on top of him that his rough play was unacceptable. I also worked on the gentle command. If I saw him getting to rough I would say gentle. Also i noticed that my maltipoo would steal his toys and bones, so i had to stop that too. Now he's 8 months old and is doing much better. I think he's realized he's bigger than them and doesn't need to push his weight around.
Although now he's at the stage where he likes to tease them til they get irritated and chase him . He loves it they don't.

|Mary Beth||Your pup is growing up. At 5 months she is bigger and more confident than when she was only 3 months old. So, she isn't going to tolerate any more rough play with the other dogs. My guess is that there were signs before that she didn't like it, but since it was not noticed by you and the other people, she had to take the behavior from the other dogs. I would suggest instead of the rough playing, that you and another person each walk your dog on leashes - keep a distance at first but walk side by side - but keep the dogs on opposite sides - then close the distance as your pup gets more comfortable.|

5 month old puppy suddenly aggressive?
Hello, I have a 5 month old GSD bitch. She has always been a very sweet girl. I've had her since she was about 3 months old and my mother had her prior to, we are family friends with the breeders, you get the point we're well acquainted. Recently (as in the past less than a month) she has began growling deeper during rough-play with other dogs and snapping. She has never done this before. Is it a puppy thing? Is it lack of discipline (though she doesn't require much)? She also just seems to be playing more rough in general.
Sorry if I seem a little scatter brained I'm just desperate for some guidance!
Any feedback is appreciated!!!
