Costco has their Natures Domain dog food thats actually pretty decent. I switched my pup over to it from Taste of the Wild High Prairie Puppy formula when he got older. At my local costco its about 33.99 for a 30lb bag for the Natures Domain Salmon and Sweet Potato.

Wow, I feel so clueless. I will be changing their diet for sure.
I know that he doesn't have mites or excessive fleas. The general consensus from the vet is allergies, after a cortisone shot he is all better for a while then it starts all over again.
I will start looking at taking some sort of supplements for my 9 year old cause he really is getting old faster then I would like.
I shop at Costco, Anybody have any recommendation for a quality food that I can buy in bulk there?
Thanks for all your help. I will try to bring something to the table in return for such solid advise. I never thought there was a website like this, I am very appreciative.

Poor guy. I found that when I switched my dogs to Wellness Salmon and sweet potato their shedding decreased like 4 fold. It is incredible the difference. Also Rangers fur got really really soft and shiny - in like a couple of weeks. I am not telling you this as an advertisement for Wellness but just as an example of how much diet can impact your dogs health. If you have been feeding pedigree all the time that you have had these problems I would try a different food. It might take some trial and error but you might find something that helps at least some of his symptoms.
FYI - ranger is on a special prescription diet right now for some new digestive issues. It is not as high quality as Wellness so I am really curious to see how the new food effects his coat. I expect to have to vacuum more and to see his fur get less shiny and soft.

I think what I'd first do is put him on a better food. He could be allergic to something in the Pedigree which is not a very good food to begin with.
When is the last time he was at the vets? I think I would take him in again, and ask for a skin scraping to test for mites/ but it sounds like your vet thinks it's allergies of some sort?
At this age he could be having arthritis issues, with that, there are many good supplements that you could give him for those issues.
Is he a chewer? He maybe losing his teeth from chewing on 'things' or himself..
They do shed alot, and usually lose some bit of fur year round. Can you take him to a groomer and have them give him a medicated bath??

New poster/ Hair issues
Hello, my name is Louis, I have two beautiful GS. My oldest is Lucas, he is a little over 9 years old, I also have his son who is about 1 1/2 years old. They are truly the kids I never had. But I have a big problem, Had I known of this site a long time ago I would have been reaching out for help. My oldest (Lucas) has been losing his hair for a long time. He has been losing hair all year long for that last 3 years. It is a rate of loss that is abnormal and has always been a concern for me. He scratches and bites all over himself to the point he leaves wet spots on the ground around him. I will sweep the floor one day and I swear I just swept up a poodle. Then I will sweep the next day and have the same amount. once he starts losing the hair above the tail I take him to the vet and he gets a shot and some pills and he is back to normal again for a few months and then it all starts over again. I have been feeding him Pedigree from Costco. I might be hurting him instead of helping him.
But now here is the other issue I have. Hi is a little over 9 years old and he looks like he is 15. In the last year he has falling apart. He gets up real slow, he stinks really bad, and today I noticed that his teeth are either grinding away or falling out. He had them all about 6 months ago when I looked in his mouth. I am just at a loss. I really don't know what to do. Please help me!
