He loves to swim, he fetched the ball every day in a canal around the house. Sometimes I think I should double-check his pedigree, if there isn't a Labrador hidden ;-)
But this was the first time we both swam together: when I jumped into the water he stopped and looked at me with surprise, almost as if asking: "wait, you can swim ???"
I can really recommend anyone to go for a swim with your GSD - they swim circles around you, swim-sprinting to get the ball and then taunting you

Experiment: throw ball into water and have owner and dog race for it, who's got the ball ?
Or in other words: my dog not only out-runs, but also out-swims me!
