Dr. Becker: "Human probiotic strains have been formulated to repopulate human GI flora. Giving human probiotics which are lactobacillus/bifidus/acidopjilus, can provide some benefit but providing additional species-appropriate bacterial strains such as E. faecalis, is more beneficial."

Monica does all my diets
Nikki is eating a home cooked diet that Monica formulated for her and she is doing great. I would e-mail her and ask some of your questions before you sign up for the consult. Nikki has EPI, IBD and food allergies so we decided to try her on pork since her Viokase is made from pork and she tolerates it well. We had to go with low-fat, so she gets pork tenderloin.
Before I decided to try a diet for Nikki I went out and priced some meats to make sure it was even affordable. Nikki eats 21oz of pork a day but I cook about 80lbs a month. So it's almost double the amount she actually eats.
I hope you can find a diet hat agrees with your boy

Monica Segal Diet Formulation?
Just wondering if anyone here has had a diet formulated by Monica Segal, and if so, what the process was like? I've been thinking about getting an adult dog consultation for my boy, although we'll have to save up for a bit. He's had an unending series of GI issues since March or April (still undiagnosed) and I've had a heck of a time trying to get him feeling better. Raw seems to have helped firm his stools up the most but he's still having plenty of gas, gurgles, and... cramping? Pain? Something that's making him groan/uncomfortable.
We've seen three vets in two countries (okay... that's dramatic since we're really close to Canada ) including an internal medicine specialist. He's on plant-based digestive enzymes, probiotics, antibiotics, etc. and nothing seems to be helping. His bloodwork, fecal exams, and an abdominal ultrasound haven't showed that anything is "wrong," but he remains feeling poorly. I've heard good things about Monica Segal from many people and places and wondered if maybe a special diet formulation would do the trick.
For those of you that used her service, what was the process like? Did she just recommend specific meats and carbs one at a time and then slowly have you add things? I know she does both raw and homecooked. I'm not opposed to homecooking, but when it comes to either I'd be concerned about her requesting I purchase specific meats and things we just don't have access to here in the boonies... or that can be easily shipped from the lower 48.
Any input would be much appreciated.
