I ended up ordering two lines from Germany and they arrived yesterday. I can't wait to be able to start using them, I am super impressed by the feel and look of them.
I have started my GSD tracking. It's only the early days so I am not yet even using a proper tracking line but it's exciting for sure

Very helpful ! Maybe I'll get two, one shorter and another longer. I'd like to avoid getting a very heavy one but with my puppy being tiny I don't know how hard she will eventually pull into the harness. However, I can always get a stronger line in a year or two if it becomes the case.
I'm only used to tracking with a Border Terrier and her pulling is just cute But with her I have had some cheap and nasty lines, it's all I've found locally so far. I thought I was buying a half-decent nylon one and all it does is pick up vegetation and get caught in something behind me. Which is why I am wanting to try Biothane, I have read so many good reviews.

I have a thinner one(3/8"). If I had to purchase one again, I'd get a thicker one.
My male is 90# and I can easily control him on a thinner line as he isn't a huge puller on the track and is pretty handler sensitive while we're tracking.

I buy these from an Amish harness maker in custom widths and lengths - any thing from 1/4 to 1 inch or maybe more wide and any length....alot of SAR people get them...
The width depends on your own preference....I like a 1/2 inch line personally - some people like the 1/4 for competition....and I know people who want a full one inch...which is HEAVY....I never use the full length except for trialing and a few runs here and there for proofing...I use 10-15 feet line for training mostly, without a handle....
It all depends on your use for the line and what is comfortable in your hands....the stuff is strong, doesn't tangle easily, and is super easy to maintain.

Tracking line width
I want to get a Biothane line for tracking. I have to order it from abroad without seeing it first so I wanted to ask advice on what width would suit me. I see they come in many different widths. I have a female GSD who is expected to be around 30 kg/66 lbs when mature.
