|Nigel||I've found it at petco in various size pump spray bottles.|

|Neko||We had something similar from a bite and used vetericyn mentioned above to clean it up. Took a couple days, but it's fine. Honestly, i spray that stuff anytime i see anything at all and if it don't help in a few days, than the Vet. but so far any skin issue has been resolved with that stuff. Magic in a bottle. All it is is safe chlorine (safe to lick and to use near eyes), it's specially formulated and smells just like bleach. So it's antifangul and antibacterial.|

The Vetericyn is OTC. I got mine from Amazon. I'm not sure if Petsmart or any of those stores carry it? I have seen it in smaller specialty pet stores.
His spot really looked exactly like you posted. But I can't say for certain it's the same thing.
This stuff is awesome and pretty much works on anything. It's good to have some in the doggie medicine bag

Its hard for me to tell by the photo-but my pup had something that looked a lot like that-
In person IMO/E it looked like a ringworm-especially since his best buddy is a bunch of half wild cats...Anyway...I treated it like I always treat ringworms I get myself and find on the cats-
Iodine dabbed on the area daily-usually I can get them healed up within 10-14 days with the daily Iodine I get in the pharmacy dept.
Not saying that is what your pup has-only that it looks somewhat like what my pup got.
When in doubt...go to the vet....

Coke had something like that on his ear. I was checking for ticks and found a scabby area. It was there for a few months I think. I even picked the scab off a few times, it just came right back. Nothing "underneath" (no cyst or bug/worm). There was a little scab and then really dark/black scabbies around it, looked like flea dirt but could find no fleas and he was never itching like if he had a flea allergy. It just went away eventually. It is possible at some point I nicked him during grooming and it just took a long time to heal.
A bump under the skin could be a small sebacceous cyst. Nikon has "oily" skin and gets them occasionally. I can get rid of them myself but if you don't get it all the first time it will just keep coming back.

I thought its weird that it didn't start to heal either.
Courtney, thanks. That's along the lines of what I was thinking too. Did he have those little tiny black too? I don't have any Vetricyn, can I buy that over-the-counter or do I have to get it from the vet?

Rusty had the same thing on his neck a couple of summers ago. The vet scraped it but everything came back normal. He said it was follicle dermatitis. I have to be very careful to get his neck dry after it's been wet, we are at the lake a lot in the summer. The hair on his neck is so dense. He was scrating it a lot which made it worse.
I would skip the Neosporin, that's keeping it moist. The key is dry for it to heal. They gave me a spray and cut the area a little, not shaved. But honestly, I would spray some Vetricyn on it a couple times a day. Rusty's did start to heal fast.

Weird that it's not healing after 10 days.
I know I would normally cut all the hair away from the area and do the Neosporin thing.
As always, trip to the vet if worried...

|RocketDog||Well, that's what I thought, but I don't think so anymore. I guess if no one has any ideas, I'll take him to the vet.|
