This helps. Your best bet is to walk the dog on concrete or pavement. His pads will toughen up over time.

I don't know of any creams or anything to toughen them up, as I never have experienced a similar issue here.
But maybe look into dog boots to give it time to heal up well?
Just did a search real quick next to boots this also comes up with some ointments not sure how well they work though.

Is there any way to toughen up a dog's paws? It seems if I take Max for a short walk and if he goes on the sidewalk- his paw or paws always get cut up and bleed. I try to keep him on grass- but when we play fetch- he goes over a few sidewalk walkways and usually cuts his paws.
Is there any cream or anything to toughen up these feet? We only walk or play for about 10-20 minutes at a time out doors. Thanks!
