I contacted Lady's breeder and it turns out she was giving the pups a wide variety of Raw from the get go! There was a bowl of kibble there but I'm not sure if maybe that was just for free feeding/snack if they needed it? Anyways...since she was on such a diet previously, I went out and picked up some more protein sources. So now she gets two meals a day (morning and when I get home from work...she has done this switch on her own, we've tried feeding her midday and she wont touch it) Anyways, here's what her diet looks like for a couple weeks:
24oz/day (based on 2% of her expected adult weight) broken up into two meals
6 oz - MM - Each day varies, chicken breast, ground beef, beef cubes or whiting
5.5 oz - RMB - Turkey or Chicken Necks cut into bite size bits...she inhales her food and I worry
.5 oz Offal - at the moment beef liver
She'll be 10 weeks on Monday and her food doesn't last much longer than 15 minutes when I put it down in her crate. I'm so happy with making the decision to go to Raw!

Edit...after reading (and re-reading) rawdogranch articles...I am going to change the percentages (when the time comes) to
45% meaty bones
50% muscle meat
aaaaaaand she answered the question about fish and how to classify it...so really...lets just look at this thread as a "woooo...new raw food convert" type and not "hey I'm gonna ask questions that I could have answered myself if I'd just remembered what I read"... thanks.

Since we picked her up a week ago (at 8 weeks) Lady had hardly really eaten. We'd been talking about switching her to raw diet when she was about a year old and in doing some research I found out that they can start much sooner...so today I picked up some chicken quarters and figured I'd give it a go. She's roughly 10lbs so should be eating about a pound a meal (according to the 10% of current puppy weight idea)...anyways...I cut the chicken quarters into 1/2 lb portions (one in the morning one at night) and while I was cutting them up she seemed super interested. Since she hadn't had tonight's feed yet I figured I'd try and feed her chicken instead. HUGE SUCCESS....I haven't seen her attack the food bowl like that since we've owned her!
So I figure I'll keep with the chicken quarters (bone included) for about a week and then start mixing in some new protein sources as recommended.
Here's where' the questions start...
I'd like to keep to a 50/40/10 ratio (Meaty Bones/Muscle Meats/Offal) per meal...is it advised to mix the proteins in each one? say 50% chicken quarter, 40% beef heart (or the like) and 10% whatever liver I can find?
In terms of suppliments...I've read mixed reviews. I'd like to get her on fresh fish as we eat quite a bit of it here at home our selves. Would that count as a bit of the muscle meats? or does it really matter? Should I just add fish oil every other day instead?
I'm stoked to see her suddenly excited about food and can't wait to see her grow into a strong, healthy dog.
Once I make it through this bunch of chicken quarters (about a weeks worth) I'll be buying a whole bunch of different cuts/sources and freezing them into meal sized portions for ease.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
