RowdyDogs I agree with around 2 years old for most breeds. That's when they really start to grow into themselves mentally. However, as I have been lucky enough to watch my pack (all but one of whom--the oldest one--I've had since they were very young), I think I could just as easily make an argument for 5 years old, or 8 years old... They really do constantly mature and develop as they age, so it does depend a bit on your definition of "mature."

Franksmom We have a big chalk board at our training center that at the start of the year everyone puts their training wishes (goals) for the year on,
Last night I listed Frank GN, CDX, TD & a mature GSD brain.
Several laughed and said "Don't count on that till he's 4"
Frank will only be 3 in April, so I guess I've got a ways to go LOL

llombardo Mine is very puppy like at 16 months. I don't know if I ever want that to go away...she keeps everyone on their toes. She has always been on the calmer side, we never went through the landshark phase. We are just enjoying each other.

Ziltoid GSDs seem to mature pretty slowly, I'd guess on average you're probably looking at around 2 years old, sometimes 3 before I'd consider them mature.

Even then, you'll still see silly puppy type moments out of your dog after that.

Haha!! Guess it really depends on what your definition of mature is =)

PuppyKono
What do you consider a mature dog?

After Kono went through her first heat I've noticed that she is a little more mature. She doesnt bark at other dogs as much. She seems to listen more. She will want to do work. She seems more level. She used to bark at any dog that would come in sight and now she wont bark she will greet the dog and then move on but still look back to see the dog walk away.

What do you guys think is a mature dog? Ive never had a dog before so I want to hear your thoughts!

Thanks C:
