|Cheerful1||I give Joey one Nordic Naturals Omega 3 pill daily, along with Vitamin E and Ester-C. Should I be giving him more of any of these, since I'm also starting the coconut oil?|

He's getting a bit itchier with the weather change, and I am also having to take Claritin again too, so we apparently both have inhalant allergies!

|Daisy2||Sorry I meant her vet not her vomit lol. I scheduled her a vet appointment with a new vet for next week and I think I'm going to have her tested for systematic yeast. Not sure how much that will cost but would like to test for that before doing allergy testing.|

|Daisy2||Hi, I don't have a Shepard. I have a three pound yorkie but this was the only discussion I found when google searching coconut oil bad reaction. If you don't mind giving some advice I have a couple questions about her reaction to it. I gave her 1/64 tsp Monday and she seemed to have a lot of vomit burps then Wednesday morning had diarrhea once and the tried to vomit several times that night. Could this be from a due off of yeast? The last time she had coconut oil was Monday night. She's very itchy and always biting and licking her feet. She gets little brown spots and red bumps on her belly and eyes are always runny. She's had several yeast ear infections when on antibiotics and just got off antibiotics a few weeks ago. Her vomit doesn't give any advice on more natural treatments so I'm kinda on my own to research them.|

What is "herxing" and "die off"?
Since I made this original post, I have continued 1000 mg fish oil and Claritin every 12 hours (prescribed by vet) and one tablespoon of coconut oil per day and he virtually has no itching.
I do believe the reduced itching it is the combination of all of the above; when it was just fish oil and Claritin or Benadryl or hydroxizine he still had a lot of itching.

Adding dandelion/milk thistle to help repair the liver so it can work efficiently to detox will minimize the herx...occasional (2-3 days here and there) of parsley water (organic) to help rid toxins/bacteria by flushing the kidneys.

|Smithie86||The problem is that coconut oil is omega 6. You are possibly missing the omega 3s in the fish oil. We do both coconut oil and fish oil, with no issue.|

I bought the coconut oil to treat Joey's itching, but am concerned after reading about the "die-off" and the herxing.
My husband has the herxing as a result of suffering from Lyme and Babesia. We do not want to subject Joey to that.
