Security Question
While balancing on a piece of wood, two inches by four inches known as a 2x4, john and his friend sally both spotted a dalmatian inside a truck with sirens, headed to put out a fire. State what the 2x4 is made of.

deano76 Hi Ankittanna - yes he's a long-haired. Lots of grooming but I think he's worth it

Will up the walk time a little over the weekend. Plan on taking him for his first trip to the woods

ankittanna87 That's one handsome bugger u got there! Long haired, is he? I usually take Kaiser out twice a day for roughly 15 mins.. Since he's not had his shots yet, I just take him up to the terrace of my apartment building.. he's about 8 weeks old now.. maybe another month or two & I'll start taking him out.. I would suggest see how tired he is after his walks, if he crashes as he enters home, that's good, if he still has some energy to burn, increase the duration in the next walk period..

deano76 Thanks again for the tips. I'll certainly restrict access for the time being and see if that helps.

In a lot of ways I'm really lucky with him as he sleeps in his crate all night (from 11pm-7am) and has never once pottied in there. For the first 4 weeks he was home, I slept on the sofa next to the crate and set my alarm to take him out every couple of hours (although he would hardly ever go). I guess he just has a strong bladder! He's an absolutely perfect boy in all respects apart from the indoor pottying so if I can crack this one soon I'll be really happy

Here's a pic in case you missed him on the picture forum. Ears are up to stay by the look of things so won't have anyone else asking me if he's a sheepdog when I take him out. It was really annoying me

Thorny - no, strangely not. It's anywhere in the conservatory and not just in the area where I used to keep the newspaper. I've been disinfecting a few times a day. We laugh as we say that our floors have never been so clean but I'll have to look into a specialist product like the one you mentioned. Thanks!
I'm not sure what's available over on that side of the pond, nor am I certain that Natures Miracle does what it says, but the idea is that it has some enzyme in it that destroys the scent of the leftover pee. On carpet you saturate the carpet and pad and just let it dry on it's own. On tile I would assume that you let it seep into the grout and porous tile and do the same thing, but it really doesn't sound like that's what you need since he is not going in the same spot each time. I think the real problem is that he has too much room in the conservatory and has not caught on to the potty outside idea yet.

My 16 week old seemed potty trained at week 8-9 as well, but when he has the run of the house he will occasionally (once a week) pee on the floor without alerting me that he needs to go out, despite my requirement that he speak before we go outside. But he has not had any accidents in crate in 2 months.

Thorny is the pup peeing in the exact same spot in the conservatory each time? if yes, there may be pee smell left over after the paper training that he is going to. My lab puppy did this until I saturated those spots with "Natures Miracle" and then she didn't mark there any more.

Another idea is crate training and keeping him in a smaller space which he instinctually won't mess in, rather than letting him have the run of the conservatory.

Narny I walk my dog in and around my neighborhood (not far though in case she straight up wont move) for about 30 min and shes ready to lay down... happy mind you but still obviously tired but would like to go some more if I asked her lol if that makes sense. About 20-30 min should work for now. I would then slowly increase the time and distance from the home.

A couple of puppy questions....

Hi everyone. I have a couple of questions I wanted to put to you all regarding my first GSD pup in quite a few years....

Firstly, we're having real problems potty training. When he was first bought home at 8 weeks, we used to lay newspaper in the conservatory for him. I took this up after a few weeks as wanted to get him used to using the back garden. Anyway, he still seems to remember that the conservatory was the place to potty and so he still goes in there unless I'm watching him non-stop. Any ideas how I can get him out of this? (he's now 15 weeks btw so I'm not expecting miracles but would just like the accidents to slow down a little!).

The second question is re. exercising. We take him out 2/3 times a day usually for 10 minutes or so at a time. At what age should I be upping the distance/time walking? Don't want to over-exercise him now but also conscious about under-exercising too.

Thanks everyone! Look forward to some advice
