So I took a lot of things into consideration, a lot of suggestions, and made some changes...
I redid the Bio (Ran it through Word and Spell Check this time ). Moved the FB hit counter to the contact page so it was less conspicuous and in the way. Made my logo less prominent and more opaque...And also added a family section with some photos...
Any other input? I know I still need to expand, which I will do...I just need a bit of time...

Thanks guys, got some more responses to my query on the Bio and will be redoing it, just need time to think (School and life are taking up a lot of my time right now) about how to incorporate all of the suggestions. I greatly appreciate them though!
In the meantime, I set up a quick Facebook Page for Melina D Photography. If you click on the image of the pick in the Contact section, it takes you right there. Not much on it yet, but I'm adding as quickly as I can. It's been suggested to me that the pick takes away from the site..So I may be doing something different with that logo, I just figured I do a lot of work with bands so I thought it was a fitting logo. I'll work on something...
I wish I could open up some sort of store, but the domain package that I picked (Price wise) doesn't allow for that, and I can't financially do much more right now..Otherwise I would offer my Photography on all sorts of products through other companies galore! Not sure exactly how that works, but I would do my research. I am on a few stock photography websites (Corbis, Shutterstock), so I do have the ability to make money that way as well.
This whole thing is just getting up and running for me really, so I'm completely open to suggestions, improvements, criticism, anything...My feelings won't be hurt. Brooks (The school I got my BA at) taught little of marketing yourself after graduation, so this is all a learning process for me...And, not to make excuses, but with school..It's somewhat of a slow process! I'm doing my best with time management and balancing things out.
Thanks again guys. I'll work on updating the site with the feedback so far!

Oh Jebus...What is with my typos?? Again, I'm usually so grammatically correct. I wrote that Bio so quickly and last minute though, no wonder it's awful. I kind of just slapped it together. I didn't proofread it, to be honest (So I'm glad you guys are). I just fixed it.
I need to run out of the house for now, but keep the constructive criticism coming, I'll be back to read it all, take it in, and make changes when I get back home. Thanks everyone, it's greatly appreciated!

I think the site is really nice, if you want to adjust your bio, keep it strictly business with only maybe 10% about your personal life/interests.
I have been selling online for years and years, not just with this site, but others as well. I have sold things via shows, ebay, etsy, etc. (just sayin' so you can take my opinion from experience) I am easily doing mine full time and if I wanted to expand, I could hire a couple of people.
You need a niche market!
What is it you are passionate about? Pets!
Focus on them.
What do people who love pets want? /They want something unique, they want something personalized, they want things that appeals to them, they want to be able to show people, they want it to open up conversations about their pets, they want to showcase their pets etc.
How can you do that?
Research top sellers on ebay, or etsy, ask people on here what they would buy.
Just a few things off the top of my head would be, photographs that you can have put on mugs, greeting cards, I bought a photograph of my dog that was turned into an oil painting with Photoshop.
Join more message boards, you need to get a reputation, offer contests, prizes, all that stuff.
Get some price points that people can afford.
Just tossing ideas out there for you, you can take it or leave it. It may not be the direction you want to go, but it is food for thought
I think the site is nice, but I don't see what it is you offer that other photographers aren't.

I was told by a good friend that my Bio needs some serious revamping...I'm going to work with her on that as she knows what she's doing...But does anyone else have any input on what I might say? It needs to be more professional, less about "me", my dogs, the fact that I play guitar, etc. It needs to be straight up business, that's it.
As many of you know I'm in the process of seeing if I got the job of a lifetime..And I just want to know if I don't get it...How I can reflect on my website my capabilities and hopefully better myself for future opportunities, that's my only reasoning for bumping this thread back up. I'm open to suggestions for other portions of the website as well, not just the bio.
I can take criticism, please don't be shy or reserved, you won't hurt my feeling...

|Melina||Woop! Got more than one video up there now! Figured it out! Now I just need to take more videos to put up there.|

Anyway, i really don't think it's a matter of having it or not...it's a matter of training one's brain and self to know how to channel and use that creativity. Learning equipment, exposures, compensations, compositions, lighting, post production, the list goes on...
I truly believe everyone is capable, it just takes some longer than others
