Rerun Yes, mine have, and when my two water nuts (one GSD, one Malinois) jump in dock diving or just jumping into a deeper section of a lake, they both go completely under the water landing.

Bear L I see... so it may be a gender issue. =) Thanks!

angierose My male will go completely underwater. He'll do anything for his ball. But my female doesn't even like getting drops on the outside of her ears. When they're playing in the creek and he splashes her, she often spends a moment giving him the stinkeye and shaking her head.

I got her to jump off a rock into a river once, but it made her go underwater so she doesn't want to do that again. He, meanwhile, seems to enjoy making noise and running like a maniac.

Kyleigh Your dog might not like to ... Kyleigh has NO problems going to the bottom of the poop / lake to get something (now it's not SUPER deep) about 4 feet

Lilie Her ears were sideways because she had water IN her ears, not weighing down her ears.

Dog submerging ears in water?

Can your GSD submerge its ears in the water while diving for something on the bottom of the water? I noticed my dog won't dive. I threw a stick into the river and she tried to dive for it but every time it starts to submerge her ears, she will get up and shake.

She can and will put her eyes and snout in the water, just not her ears.

After multiple times of trying to get the stick in the water, her ears became horizontal when she got out of the water. Is it the water weighing the ears down? The ears went up pretty quickly to it's normal position after we left the river.

Just curious if it's something she can't do (submerge the ears) or something she has to get comfortable doing?
