I recently rented a minivan for a trip I took with Raina. The space was great. I could fit everything I wanted to take without any problem. The stow and go seating in the floor was great. I loved the remote opening side doors and hatch too but the gas mileage was terrible.

This was my 2004 Pilot. The newer models have more space horizontally. These are 36" SUV crates

martemchik I'm looking at doing the same thing (currently driving a MINI Cooper), but once the second dog comes will probably need something bigger. I know it works for sure with the Honda Pilot (a member at my club has this set up) and will most likely work with the Ford Explorer and any SUV of that size.

I'll probably go with a quarter ton pick up and just put that cover on it. Run some ducts back there for air/heat when needed. This way the fur stays out of the passenger zone.

Court The Rav4 is small, I am not looking for a minivan. I am still looking to have a back seat for extra storage and passengers if needed. I think I am sold on the Honda Pilot. Thanks

Gilly1331 Dodge Durango, ford flex are my 2 votes.

robk I would think that the rav4 would be way to small to be useful.

Liesje I use a minivan, absolutely cannot beat the price, the amount of space, and the gas mileage. However if I was going SUV I'd probably look at the Honda Pilot and Toyota Rav4.

Zisso Another vote for a minivan here. Works great with the back seats removed. When I moved, I had the option to crate both dogs and both cats with LOTS of extra room. Wouldn't travel any other way!
