Mandy L. We did go to a dog park in Morrisburg when it was rainy and cold. We were the only ones there so we let him off lead and he had blast running around. Attachment 22897

Kyleigh Conroy Pit is great for a dog park, he's a puppy so just keep an eye out ... but it's a decent size and there's trail to stay away from the people that just stand there.

There's some trails along Anderson Road that are great. Once you get further out you could drop the leash and let him run.

If you don't mind a long drive ... there's a place in Stittsville, another one in Richmond, and yet another place in Kanata that are all hiking / walking trails.

PM me if you want the exact directions ...

The canal has great paths to walk along, the Gatineaus have some beautiful hiking trails too!

Mandy L. He is 4 months old. We are 20 mins outside of Ottawa (east end).
We are working on recall but mostly walking anywhere its leash.

We have gone back to the breeder, she is 45mins from us. Anka (his sister) and Draven had a blast. Also Trent's cousin has one of his sisters but we are working on their play together. Anka and Draven played a lot better together then Skylar and Draven.

Shade Conroy Pit and Bruce Pit are great but might be a little busy for a young puppy. Start with some place like Petsmart where all dogs are leashed and work up from there, look online for on and offleash parks in your area. Ottawa has several of each, some better then others. It's probably best to scope them out beforehand before taking Draven with you

For non-specific set up play dates with suitable dogs either with family or friends, see if a nearby training centre has a socialization group, or even go back to your breeder for playtimes if they'll allow it

fuzzybunny If your dog likes to swim, you could go to Lemieux Island which is off of the Parkway. You'd go over the bridge to the water filtration plant. There's parking there, an area to run around, and the dogs have easy access into the river.

I'm not sure if you're familiar with the two major dog parks around here or if you're even a fan of dog parks. The two big ones consist of various walking trails through NCC land. Bruce Pitt is in the West end on Cedarview. It's my favourite one because you can avoid the dog park chaos by taking some of the smaller less traveled paths. In the East end, there's Conroy Pitt which also consists of various walking trails.

How old is your dog? As Shade and Ky mentioned, the dog parks might be a bit hectic for a young pup although I think you can avoid the chaos a bit as I mentioned with the less populated trails.

Kyleigh How old is your dog? Any "issues"?

What part of the city are you in? Do you have a car? Is recall good?

I live in Ottawa, so before I give you all kinds of info, need more info!!!

I go to TONS of places with Kyleigh ... but her recall is perfect and she's never on leash!

Ottawa Canada people

Where are some good places to take pups/dogs around Ottawa?
We have been to some kid parks and let him run around in his long lead while the girls were playing.
Any other good places for socialization ?
