Roxy714 Since this would be Roxys (4 months) 1st Christmas, I've been wondering myself about any possible dangers....are the pine needles dangerous if she happens to eat one???
....she's like a vacuum, she'll suck up anything on floor.

ChancetheGSD I've never had a problem with dogs/puppies and the Christmas tree but something tells me Gretchen is going to be a PITA given that she steals -everything-. So I'm thinking it might be easier to save myself the pain of a toppled over tree and broken ornaments (And possibly her ingesting stuff she's not suppose to that could hurt her!) and buy an x-pen to go around it to HOPEFULLY keep her away. I can't see any presents that go under it fairing any better than the ornaments would otherwise.

BrennasMom I am skipping the tree...I have a cat that loves to eat unedible things (brooms, plastic bags, etc.) and a puppy who thinks anything that fits in his mouth is a toy. Instead of a tree, I thumbtacked sparkley ornaments in the shape of a christmas tree on the wall, too high for the critters to reach. After it's finished I might just post a picture.

Mandy L. I'm getting ready to put our tree up (undecorated) to teach Draven to leave it. Lol will be interesting because our 2yr old cat Loves to lay on the tree skirt.

llombardo I only had my GSD for about 2.5 weeks and she was about 3.5 months for her first christmas last year. She never bothered the tree and I hope its the same this year

jprice103 Cheyenne had just turned a year old at Christmas last year, and I had a very active GSD/Husky mix foster at the time also. I put an x-pen around the Christmas tree. Worked perfect! Kept them away from it, then on Christmas morning, we took it down to open gifts! With a 2 year old, and an almost 1 year old GSD this year...same plan!!

Kayos and Havoc Lydi will be about 8.5 months by the time we get our live tree set up about mid December. Not looking forward to the battle of the tree as I have a feeling she will be all over it. Kayos and Havoc never bothered the tree as pups. The cast don't bother the tree.

I just get this feeling Miss Lyd is going to really be enamored of it. Why I do think this? Because she is in to EVERYTHING.

breyer08 We actually just set up our Christmas tree, and Ava (7 months) didn't care at all! She was excited at first when we were taking it out of the box (we have an artificial tree), but once it was up she couldn't care less! She has sniffed it a couple of times since then, but she really doesn't show any interest in it. Hopefully Spirit will be the same!

CeCe Last year my tree was destroyed-my puppy was 8 and 9 months. All the stuffed ornaments were taken off and my adult dog took off the glass balls and tossed them. The candy canes were all eaten. They also toppled the tree almost every day and drank from the tree water bowl. This year I think I'll get a mini tree and keep it on a table.
