wyominggrandma UPDATE,
so my hand is so much better. Been almost a week since the infection was spreading throughout my hand/arm and the infection is gone. The burn that turned into a huge round circle is still red, but no seeping or drainage. I suspect it will scar and stay round and red looking for awhile, but much better than losing my hand.
It is still cleaned and wrapped daily, I wear a glove at work to keep bandage dry. Still taking 3000 mg of Keflex daily. Hmm, don't think I could get sick right now if I was injected with a germ. lol.
Anyway, thanks for everyones care and concern. Going to be extra careful cooking for the holidays, don't ever want this to happen again.

The program left our area (Sitka, Alaska) and I haven't pursued it since becoming a full-time mom...I was also a CNA while living in Alaska (certified nurses aide).

As for animals - same thing in a way, and also the rescue has taught me a lot. I look up stuff all the time, due to the dogs we get in and the myriads of illnesses or injuries they have and can get.

wyominggrandma I am on 3000 mg of Keflex daily for ten days... That is alot of antibiotics daily, but am going to follow orders to the letter, do not want this getting any worse.
Yes, I have sivadene, clean burn twice daily and keep it bandaged at work in a glove.
Thanks for all the positive thoughts.

msvette2u Just a word to the wise...if it's beyond a bit of redness, seek medical attention (cool the burn if you can, in the meantime, with water or a cool pack) and don't fool around with home remedies.

Not only can you wind up with a wound like on page one of this thread, you can make things much worse and not better.

Silvadene has pain relief in it, along with an antibiotic. And oral antibiotics ought to be given quite possibly, your doctor is the best one to decide.

1sttimeforgsd Sending healing thoughts your way, hope that you heal up soon.

Someone told me once that if I ever got burned to put flour on the wound and it would heal quickly and not scar.
