Tripp I am loving these stories as well. I have one, my son's girlfriend, Danielle, and I went to a movie. On our way home we saw some sort of collie / collie mix running around a busy intersection and being narrowly missed by cars.
We pulled over and Danielle and I got out of the car. The dog kept darting away and then came back. Danielle finally was able to get the dog over it's fear and in the car.
There was a collar but no tag, so we brought him home. Long story short, we had him with us for a day and tried all sorts of ways to find the owner with no luck. We had just decided that we could keep the dog if we didn't find the owner, when I saw his flyer at the local Petco. I had been there the night before and didn't see the flyer.
We returned the dog to his owner the next afternoon. Apparently, he escaped the back yard and was missing for over a week. Poor guy...anyway, I told the owner to get him name tags and take good care of him.

wyoung2153 Aw yay for happy dog stories!! I love them all..

Mine aren't quite as exciting.. but I have 3 small ones.

The first was, it was storming and we had a break. When I went to take Titan outside to potty he ignored me and rant ot the front door barking his brains out in his "this isn't a human but it's alive and it's on my door step!!!!!! MOOOOOM!!!!!!" bark

When I looked I initially thought it was a cat, because we have plenty the roam, but when I looked closer it was a Saint Bernard puppy! So I took Titan out back, brought the puppy, Max, in. It had a collar so I called the number and no one answered. I waiting a little while, and introduced Titan to the pup.. they were fine. Ended up realizing the house was right down the road, grabbed a leash and walked the pup to his home. They were out front looking for him when I brough him up... looked like a frat house, but all the guys were thrilled to see him. Ha!

The 2nd, is almost identical... only with a bruised nose and a shorter walk. I pulled into my driveway from work one evening to find a chocolate lab just sitting in my yard. When I got out of the car, I called him to me and he came crawling... literally crawling low to the ground wagging his tail furiously! When I bent down to pet him, he got so excited he shot up and BAM head to nose.. eyes watered, probably saw stars.. bruised for about a week. Lol. Well I didn't hold it against him, he was thrilled to be touched and wiggled A LOT. Well it took me a minute, between the wwatery eyes and the wiggle butt to actually read his collar. Another house jsut down the road.. walked over and the owner was there to greet me, didn't even know he was missing, said she JUST put him in the back yard.

my 3rd and final rescue story... is short.. I was driving home.. just down the road from my house, lol. And 3 GSDs shot across the street.. jsut playing with eachother. Cars were swirving to miss and all that. I pulled over, got out and called them.. who all came boundingtoward me.. thankfully SUUPER friendly. They didn't have collars but one bounded back across the road to a certain house and they seemed to be familiar with the place so I rang the doorbell, a big party going on.. lots of guys drinking and were like "oh hey! thanks!" and shut the door in my face.. haha.. oh well at least his dogs were safe!

All was well with all 3 Other than those I have tried to help numerous wandering dogs, but all run scared or just bark and bark, hackles up and such, so I end up leaving them as long as they are not on a busy road, and I check back later that day.

I was walking my last dog Maddie in the local park one Summer morning. Across the park we spot a Saint Bernard running loose. We had never seen him before and no owner was in sight.

No way was I going to let this dog get hit by a car so I called to him. He comes bounding over to us with a big goofy grin on his face. Maddie barked at him a little at first but settled quickly.

I take hold of the big guys collar and learn that his name is Bandit. There is a phone number but no address on his collar. He looked in good shape and was quite friendly.

We didn't have a phone with us so we decided to take him home to make the call. But we only had one leash. So I took the leash off of Maddie and put it on Bandit. I really didn't need a leash at all for Maddie and she stuck to me like glue at all times.

We walked Bandit home. Since we didn't know if he had any house manners we put him on our screened in back porch. I stayed with him while my wife made the call. He was a really sweet dog and rolled onto his back for some belly scratches. Meanwhile, Maddie is giving us a pouty stare through the sliding glass window.

The owner was not home so Bandit hung out with us for most of the day. The owner was really glad to see him again. That made our whole week.

These are some great stories.Im loving it.

LaRen616 I forgot about my other story!

About 3 months ago, my sister and I were driving back to her place when we saw a beautiful Pitbull running down the street. We stopped the car and I called to her, she came flying into the van, wagging her tail, smiling and whimpering, she was sweet as can be, she was young and she looked like she may have been in heat. She smelled great, she must have just had a bath, she had a brand new red leather collar on and she was in excellent condition. We drove around the area for almost 2 hours looking for someone that may be looking for her. We called the police department and animal control and no one reported her missing. It was 11pm so my sister took her home for the night. The next day we called around seeing if anyone was missing her, we put on Facebook that we found a dog, no one responded, my sister took her to the Vet to see if she was microchipped and she wasn't. My sister held onto her for almost 2 weeks and I had named her "Bella." My sister couldn't keep her because my nephew had been very badly bitten in the face and scarred by a pitbull so he was scared of her. My sister ended up giving her to a co worker of hers who had lost their pitbull to cancer 6 months prior. She is spoiled rotten, she's spayed now and her name is still Bella.
