Susan_GSD_mom David,

Just curious--Does that have any effect on the fan motor? It would seem that it would overwork the motor and burn it out. Or does the air move through easier than I am imagining?

mspiker03 What about using a "trail mix" approach to treat training? I used to do this with Paisley when she was a pup - it was a mix of cheese, hot dogs and natural balance rolls all tossed in the same bag.

These days, I tend to use either cut up chicken, turkey hot dogs, cut up steak/meat or I use Real Meat brand air dried raw food (although I don't use the trail mix approach as often anymore, but I will occasionally).

Check out the video I posted. If you want pictures from my rig, I'll take some next time I get my jerky on.

The time really depends on how you cut the meat, how wet it is when you start it, the relative humidity and the temperature.

Typically, 8-10 hours. As little as 5 and up to 16.

I dehydrate this way because the texture is much better, and I can do large batches.

I need to copy and paste this and email it to myself to remember. How long does it take? Any chance you can post a picture so I can compare when I try this? This sounds like an awesome way for me to make enzyme treated treats for Gunther's EPI.
