Truman, 5 1/2 month old GSD
Hello! I've been lurking here since I got Truman at 9 weeks old and thought it was about time I say hello. Truman is now 5 1/2 months old. He is eager to please and very calm for such a young dog. He's my first GSD (other than my mother's white GSD when I was very young). I also have an almost 13 year old 1/2 Golden Retriever 1/2 Rottweiler.
We've been to puppy kindergarten and are now in a teen manner class. I really enjoy working with him and seeing all the things we can learn together. I want to work him up to earning his CGC and probably beyond, but I'm not quite sure which direction I'd like to go in.
I had originally planned to rescue a puppy (looking mainly for a shepherd mix), but the rescues I dealt with were absurd to deal with. I gave up and got Truman. I've since learned that I should have waited and found a better breeder than the one I got Truman from, but I had a ton of free time to train a puppy this summer and I didn't know when the opportunity to train and bond with a new dog would present itself again. His dam is a backyard bred dog. I met her and she was very calm and friendly. His sire on the other hand is WGSL imported from Germany. His name is Gabor vom Holtkamper Hof out of Peik vom Holtkamper Hof and Jaika vom Holtkamper Hof. All this to say, I don't really know what I have in Truman, though he's been great so far.
