Woohoo! Got our second leg today with a score of 187 for second place! Wow! What a feeling! I have worked so long and hard and it is finally paying off.
The fun match last night didn't go so well, but we had traveled 4 hours in the car, got to our hotel and then off to the fun match where it was quite warm and the flies were awful. We were scheduled for 8:40 am and I figured he'd be ready to work in the morning.............and he pulled through for me! He's a good boy!
This is day one of 4 trials and we're off to a great start! Hoping to get our title tomorrow. Fun, fun, fun!

Thank you all so very much for the comments!
I went back and counted my tries in the ring and this was the 16th time. My goal was to do it in less than 10 tries, but my new goal is less than 20. It was sure a big boost to my confidence to finally qualify. There are so many ways you can NQ. I just knew that I couldn't let it get me down, because if it did, my dog would surely feel it. I had to just focus and keep a positive attitude and it finally paid off.
One major improvement is his barking! I have battled this for years and each level of obedience was getting worse. He would just start having a barking fit. In practice, he might bark a couple of times, but not like that, which made it so difficult to fix.
A trainer told me to end training any time he barks because he wants to do the work. If he barked, I put him in his crate for a bit and then try again. I also started to frustrate him to provoke a bark so I could work on it.
This was our first trial since I have been working on it and it has worked! Friday-2 barks, Sat-3 barks, and Sunday-1 bark. Major accomplishment! It wouldn't matter how well he did the exercises, if he had his barking fit, we'd NQ or be excused from the ring.
So, I'll let you know how I do next month!

Thank you!!! I appreciate the kind words!
A few years ago, I was in that same park doing rally. I remember watching Shyne in the Utility ring. I was amazed! I'm a newbie and had a CD and Rally Advanced title and I just couldn't imagine myself doing that.
After she was out of the ring, we were talking and I told her that I'd never get that far. She said, "Don't sell yourself short. Just stick with it and you'll get there." Those words have stuck in my head and I continued on. We got our RAE and a CDX and I've been training the Utility exercises for two years. I still can't believe I'm doing this! It has been a wonderful journey and thank you, Shyne, for being an inspiration to me!
