llombardo Mine had something similar that started with dry skin(when I turned the heat on) It got worse in April and he was itching bad enough to pull fur out. It was also along his spine to the base if his tail. The vet gave him a shot to stop the itching(the shot lasted a month) I gave him a bath every couple weeks and brushed daily to remove all dry skin. I also got some cedar oil spray that moisturized his skin and helped grow his fur back. The doctor originally said hyper sensitivity to fleas, but I'm not sure. He's been fine since May.

my boy diesel i would guess infection too
iodine wash for sure
if it gets worse or does not improve quickly get him in to the vet
this is because an untreated infection can cause all kinds of other issues

Steve Strom Search google images for dog hot spots and see if that looks like it. If it does, clip all the hair away first. Its been a long time since I had a dog with one, but Sulfodene got rid of it in a couple days.

Think about fleas too. And I doubt its related to the groomer.

hev1128 Sounds like an infection. Medicated shampoo and an iodine rinse will go a long way

spine dandruff/bloody spots!? help!

ok quick breakdown,

my man is 1.5 years young

has been on blue wilderness for the majority of his life

gets 2 pumps of fish oil with every meal (4 pumps a day)

took him to a groomer recently (this is where the issues started)
when i got him back, i noticed him acting weird when i would touch his spine, the next day he would cower when i would touch his spine so i moved hair and looked and saw bloody scabs all down his spine.
*please notice that i left out my convo with the groomer to keep it PG13*
we are here about a month later, i thought his back was healed up and im brushing him, i get to his spine and he starts walking around me trying to get away from the brush and i just hold him and say stay! like a good dog he does and i brush him down his spine and YEEELP!!! and i feel like the biggest puppy beater in the world... his spine has massive clumps of dandruff and a little bloody spot where i had just brushed him. ALL down his spine theres the dandruff and rough looking skin... any ideas?

edit:
he also has itchy ears, the vet could not determine from food allergy or what. but i will be switching to orijen very soon. could this be related to the skin issue?
p.s.
i did use the search function and google and found nothing like this..
