|llombardo||My dogs are almost 10, 4.5, almost 3, 2, 1.5, and 1. I have 4 under the age of 3. They are well behaved. The 1.5 yr old is really my dads and he is full of energy and the only one presently in a crate. He will be starting obedience classes soon, I can do these classes with my eyes closed. I do almost 8 months of training and get CGC's on all of them. All is pretty quiet in the house while he is crated, once he is out it is pure madness. I'm hoping training works and my dad can handle him because I am good with my 5.|

Some days like today I'm bored out of my mind! It's not that I miss the drama but I do miss that always on the go, got to be somewhere, got to get something done. Never thought I would say this but it is just too darn quiet!

By the time you get the Golden, your pup is hitting adolescence. That can be very hard on a puppy and lead to bullying, which we have going on right now with the old frail dog, which is similar in the dynamics. It is NOT fun and takes the joy out of having a pup/adolescent. It also teaches the GSD that she can take on other dogs.
My experience is that they are better in dealing with a pup once they are passed 1.5 years old.
If you decide to do it anyway, get male pup.

|Neko||We waited until 1 was trained and 1 year old. Still a puppy really and than got a second. It has been amazing. but because 1 was already trained, we barely had to train the second she is a little copycat.|
