I have been doing it with my golden for years. Great body awareness and trust building. I actually went all the way down the big twisty slide with Doyle because Myles bailed from the top and I didn't want the dumb puppy trying that maneuver lol

Awkward Puppy is Awkward
Doyle has hit this like crazy weird stage in his growth. It seems to be all legs and elbows. He is I think taller than both my other dogs, but he's skinny as a rail! Even with eating 4-6 cups of 500ish kcal food a day lol. He is rather active and still intact so that may be a part of it. He has been slowly getting better with his dog reactivity. On leash, he's basically perfect. Few little issues, even with actually meeting other dogs. He gets to either watch them go past or sniff briefly before I call him away and we move on. Off leash recall is getting better. He's figured out what fetch means, seems interested in frisbee and is a little more wary of strangers than he was (especially within buildings). He is almost 11 months old, so I know we are in that secondary fear stage. Hoping he will come out of it and be calm like my older two around new people and dogs. But who knows lol.
Big thing I am excited about is that he has figured out how to swim! He even will fetch things in the midst of all the swimming! It excites me since it is often up around 100 here during the summer and the only safe activity is swimming in that heat. I love monkey see, monkey do and a golden who is obsessed with water lol.
Anyway I thought I'd share a few videos to show his progress. He's a brave boy in most cases and he tries rather hard. Plus videos are fun! Or something along those lines lol.
First real swim
First swim and fetch - Ignore my unpleasant backside lol
