I will discuss possible kidney issues with vet as well.
His belly isn't bloated. I actually did some reading about cushings recently and it's also on my list of things to mention to my vet, along with Addison's. I would have to go back to what I read but I think between the two, his symptoms matched Addison's a little more. I know they are rare but I don't want to rule anything out just because it might seem unlikely.
As far as food goes, he has gotten a little more defensive towards the other dogs when they go near him, but I'm not sure if it's health related or if he just maturing a little, and deciding he's done being pushed around by the older guys.
Also, I wondered as far as the drinking goes, is diabetes a possibility? The water is the only thing that makes me wonder so I don't think it's likely but I just wondered what y'all's experience has been with that.

You said he drinks a lot. Does he have a bloated belly at all? The picture does not look like it. My Akita had Cushings disease. I had to fill her water 10 times a day. The Cushings eventually took the muscle from her legs, back, etc. Maybe just something to rule out. My Akita also walked when she pooped, without being able to squat. Then she would turn right around and eat it. Is he more food aggressive than normal?
Usually Cushings hits older dogs though. My Akita was 9 when she was diagnosed.

the way he hunches makes me think kidneys
"I will definitely. Since you mention his kidneys, he drinks a LOT. A lot more than our other two dogs seem to drink. "

|Linda1270||I just want to let you know that I am thinking about you and your pup, he's beautiful by the way. I hope that the vet can get to the bottom of what is going on with him, poor baby shouldn't be going through all these things at such a young age. Take care and be sure to let us know how you make out at the vets. Prayers and hugs your way!|

Funny you should mention that, he actually has not wanted his back to be pet in a while, he slinks down any time you stroke his back. Thanks for the imput! Will mention that to my vet also.

is the dog in some sort of stomach discomfort?
angulation --- straight front , straight rear , and roach will impact on his range of motion. The muscles in his back must be sore. Lot of tension on them .
I would get a proper x ray done by a vet who places the hips in proper alignment --- and do two views of the spine . I think that is where your answer lies.
