My rule of thumb is if they stink they get a bath, as long as you're using a dog shampoo you minimize any risk of drying out their skin or coat. If you're worried get a extra gentle 'puppy friendly' version. Make sure to rinse completely and use lots of praise and treats to make bath time fun and exciting - that will come in very handy later on as he grows. Earthborne is a brand I see recommended often
The best food is the one that works for your dog. I use Fromm, I fed the LBP up to one year and now both of mine rotate through the Four Star grain free line. Wellness, Orijin, Acana are the top three contenders that I would use if I looked to switch, or if you're looking for a good quality kibble on a budget Costco carries two varieties of Kirkland - one grain free and one with grain.

Good Morning! My name is Robin and I just got a gsd pup, born 4/10/14. He has been nothing less than amazing since we got him, but there are TONS of questions. It's been a long time since I had a real deal PUPPY and never a pure bred.
The biggest question my bf and I have is how often we can bathe him and what's the best shampoo/conditioner to use?
What's the best food? Raw is a bit too expensive for us but we want him to have optimal nutritional value in his food - suggestions?
Any and all tips and advice are welcome! Thanks!
