selzer Well, I am not sure. Mine ride crated and travel very well that way. I think that the freedom, along with the knowledge that you are going to do something really fun, just has your dog crazy excited, and he is getting himself more and more worked up.

I don't know what you mean about the tractor. Is this on a farm, let him run behind if that is the case, and work his little butt.

cowgirlteach Not all the time (crating does help with the whining). This is for when he is in the tractor or like the other day we went 10 miles down the road to hike and he whined the whole way.

Long rides he is always crated and it makes the world of difference. But my husband is getting frustrated with him and is not wanting to take him to work because of the whining.

Since the crate works I know it's over stimulation that causes it, but is there a way to train quiet?

He has been through 2obedience classes and is very well behaved.

Whiny pup!

Hi all I have not posted here in about a year, but I need some help.

My two year old male (neutered) has a very high pitched whine when we are doing something fun. Riding in the car or tractor mainly. I know it's excitement, but how do I train him to quiet?

We have a 5 year-old heeler that use to do this but she grew out of it, but I don't recall at what age. Maybe gsd grow out of it too?

Any tips appreciated!
